Michael Southam - Reno Nevada Optometrist and Winnemucca
Optometrist
Dr. Southam graduated from South Fremont High School in St. Anthony Idaho where he served as student body president his senior year. He then went on to fulfill a full time two-year LDS humanitarian mission to Vladivostock and Magadan Russia. After returning home, he enrolled at Utah State University in Logan, Utah where he met his wife Katie, served as a College of Science Ambassador, volunteered and taught at the local Red Cross, served at the local Child and Family Support Center as a house parent, and participated as an official translator for the Russian Olympic team during the 2002 winter games.
After receiving his B.A. in biology along with minors in both Russian and chemistry, Dr. Southam enrolled at Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. During his time as a student at PCO, Dr. Southam was awarded first place in his class for his poster on the ophthalmic manifestations of HIV. Dr. Southam also completed a rotation through the Philadelphia Feinbloom Vision Rehabilitation Center (low vision) with honors and distinction.
In addition to primary care optometry, Dr. Southam’s particular interests and specialties at Black Rock Vision Center include pediatric optometry, vision development/ vision therapy, low vision/vision rehabilitation, and specialty contact lenses. Dr. Southam is certified to treat glaucoma. Dr. Southam is a member of the Nevada Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, and College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD) – Dr. Southam is currently working towards his fellowship certification within the COVD. Dr. Southam volunteers with the Lions Club and the Remote Area Medical team to provide vision care to the local underserved population of Northern Nevada.

Corom Eisley - Reno Nevada Optometrist and Winnemucca
Optometrist
Dr. Eisley graduated from Skyview High School in Nampa Idaho in 2000. He later went on to serve a two-year humanitarian mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Parana¢ Brazil. During this time Dr. Eisley became fluent in Portuguese and has since become semi-fluent in Spanish. After serving in Brazil, Dr. Eisley returned to Nampa where he worked for a few years in the fence industry and held several positions including Fabrication Manager and Director of Sales.
Dr. Eisley graduated with honors from Boise State University in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. While attending Boise State, Dr. Eisley volunteered with a hospice program, which increased his desire to serve in a health care setting. He later attended Midwestern University College of Optometry in Arizona, where he graduated in 2018.
During his time as an optometry student, Dr. Eisley was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Honors Society. He also volunteered at several community and public service events including the ACT Kids Health Care, MWU/Foundation for Fighting Blindness, TOPS Community College Athletes Vision Screening, and Hopefest Vision Screening. As a fourth year optometry student, Dr. Eisley was selected as a teacher’s assistant for the 3rd year low vision course. It was during this time that his passion for ocular disease and low vision developed.
After graduating from optometry school, Dr. Eisley went on to complete a one year ocular disease and primary care residency at the Veteran Affairs Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Sierra Vista, Arizona. As a VA resident, Dr. Eisley Served the nations veteran population known for its high prevalence of glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
He also gained experience participating in the care and management of many other ocular conditions including iritis, artery/vein occlusions, viral and bacterial infections, and more. Dr. Eisley loves to learn and is dedicated to staying up to date with current ocular studies in order to provide the best care to his patients. |

Dr. Eisley loves being an Optometrist, but if you ask him, he will tell you that his most important and favorite titles are Husband and Father. He met and married his lovely wife Hollie
in 2005. Together they have four beautiful BUSY children; Caden, Jacob, Liam, and their baby girl Sophia. They love to spend time outdoors camping, hiking, swimming, biking, and fishing. |
